SCAT® (Speed Command of Attitude and Thrust)
Just as speed control was an extension of Safe Flight’s stall warning experience, the more sophisticated SCAT® (Speed Command of Attitude and Thrust) System extended speed control by the addition of a horizontal acceleration factor, bringing to the aviation industry the first anticipatory speed and attitude command system.
Used on a number of today’s large jet aircraft, this equipment basically consists of a continuous output sensor, a computer (or computers), a flap transmitter, and indicators. The systems are used by the pilot for both speed command and attitude guidance, and as an input to the Flight Directors and the automatic throttle system. Over 3,500 systems have been produced and delivered.
